I don’t think people should use the size of the TV as the sole factor to determining its height. Sure it can be a factor but not the only one. Say you have your TV mounted on a tilt or full-motion mount. You could place it higher than when its mounted on a flush mount because you could tilt it downward so you are still staring squarely at the TV. However if you only have stiff vertical chairs then you still wouldn’t want it that high because you don’t want to stress your neck by having to look up. Similarly if you have a bunch of lazy boy recliners then its easy to be looking upward without stressing your neck.
The best determining factor in mounting height (in my opinion) can be decided by sitting in your viewing area and getting as comfortable as you can. Once you do that, what place on the wall do your head and eyes naturally look to in that comfortable position? PUT THE TV THERE! Seriously, put the middle of your TV screen directly at your most comfortable focal point on the wall. Perfect right?
